I was going through some of my old image folders when i came across this reminder of happy warm summer vacations in Amalfi – just the thing as autumn (fall) starts to kick in.
These are herrings split and racked ready for going into the smoking oven to be turned into kippers – a traditional way of preparing this, once abundant, fish. A whole industry and culture existed on the East coast of Britain based around this wonderful, tasty fish.

Went to the beach today and captured this, brought it home and did a little work in photoshop with it. It’s a detail of a part of the sea defences (groynes) which line the Norfolk coast to help reduce coastal erosion.
